Research Projects
State Funded Project:
- Characterization of the metabolic profile of an Hispanic at-risk pediatric population
in Northeast Tennessee
- The goal of this project is to develop an expanded metabolic profile of Hispanic children aged 2 to 10 years.
ETSU Funded Projects:
- Prevalence and risk of metabolic syndrome in Hispanic children in NE, TN
- The goal of this project is to purchase lab supplies and food frequency questionnaires that are planned to be used to determine the prevalence of metabolic syndrome and describe the metabolic profile of Hispanic children.
- The study of metabolic syndrome among Hispanic families in Johnson City, TN
- The goal of this project is to develop validated instruments for measuring the prevalence and correlates of metabolic syndrome among Hispanic families who utilize the Johnson City Community Health Center as their health care provider.
- Sleep problems and overweight among American youth
- The goal of this project is to examine the effects of child’s sleep problems on the development of overweight from 2 to 15 years of age.
