Kate Trabalka is a freelance editor, visual journalist and photographer based in East Tennessee. She has a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri School of Journalism, where she focused in photojournalism and documentary, and a bachelor’s degree in media and communication with a concentration in journalism and a minor in dance from ETSU. Kate has held various media roles, including online editor of Vox Magazine, staff photographer and videographer with the Columbia Missourian, as well as coordinator and social media lead for both Pictures of the Year International and College Photographer of the Year. During her time at ETSU, she served as executive editor of the East Tennessean and held various writing and editing roles with Overlooked in Appalachia. Currently, Kate also works as a freelance fact-checker for Dance Teacher Magazine, head coach of the Science Hill High School Dance Team and an instructor and choreographer at The Dance Company in Johnson City.
