
MAJ Megan Johnson
Assistant Professor of Military Science
MAJ Megan Johnson was born in Bamberg, Germany and is the eldest of LTC(R) Edward Johnson and Mrs. Debra Johnson’s four children. She attended California Lutheran University, graduating in 2011, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in international business and a minor in Sociology. In May 2011, she commissioned as a Military Intelligence Officer, branch detailed Chemical Corps through the University of Santa Barbara ROTC program and attended the Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) Officer Basic Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri in August of the same year.
MAJ Johnson was assigned to the 2nd General Support Aviation Battalion, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, KS, where she deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, as the Battalion Assistant Intelligence Officer and CBRN Officer. Upon redeployment, she transferred to Fort Campbell, KY and served as the Company Executive Officer for Headquarters Support Company, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). She served as the Rear Detachment Commander for Headquarters Support Company, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), during Operation UNITED ASSITANCE from February 2014 to October 2014. MAJ Johnson attended the Military Intelligence Captains Transition Course and Career Course in Fort Huachuca, AZ.
Upon completion of the Military Intelligence Captain’s Career Course in February 2016, she moved to Fort Bragg, NC where she served as the Battalion Intelligence Officer for 27th Engineer Battalion (Airborne), 20th Engineer Brigade and 96th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne) (Special Operations), 95th Civil Affairs Brigade. She served in 1st Special Forces Command as the Deputy G2 for Special Operations Joint Task Force- Contingency (SOJTF-C). She was than assigned to United States Special Operations Command (USASOC) intelligence section as a plans officer managing the various intelligence program of records throughout the command. She served as the G2 Operations OIC for 82nd Airborne Division upon graduation from the Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC). She later became the Brigade Intelligence Officer for Airborne Division Sustainment Brigade (ADSB), 82nd Airborne Division, where she deployed to GTMO, Cuba for an IRF activation. After this time, she served as the Battalion Executive Officer (BN XO) for 532nd Military Intelligence Battalion, 501st Military Intelligence Brigade. She is currently assigned to East Tennessee State University at the Assistant Professor of Military Science. She has a master’s degree in management and leadership from Webster University and Masters of Operational Studies from CGSC.
MAJ Johnson’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (8 OLC) and Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal- Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Serve Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Korea Defense Service Medal, NATO Medal, Air Assault, and the Parachutist Badge. Her certifications include Space Cadre, Digital Intelligence System Master Gunner Course, SERE-C, DIA Collection Manager Course, Airborne school, and Air Assault school. She holds the Project Management Professional (PMP), Project Management Institute- Agile Certified Practioner (PMI-ACP), and Project Management Institute- Professional Business Analytics (PMI-PBA).
