
Overview
The Nutrition for Healthcare Professionals Concentration in the Bachelor of Science in Nutrition program is designed for students interested in strengthening their foundation in nutrition prior to entering the field of healthcare. This program is ideal for students who plan to pursue graduate education in medicine, physician's assistant programs, physical therapy, occupational therapy, dentistry, or speech-language pathology.

Hands-On Experiences
Courses are designed to provide a variety of community-engaged and hands-on learning experiences to help students master providing evidence-based nutrition care to patients and communities. Sample projects include:
- A nutrition-focused community needs assessment
- Delivery of a nutrition education session
- Development of a grant proposal
- Food Is Medicine Lab
Careers
Completion of the Nutrition for Healthcare Professionals concentration prepares students for post-graduate study in medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, dentistry, and speech-language pathology. Additional career options include public health nutritionist, corporate wellness coordinator, nutrition educator, and health coach.
How to Apply
The Nutrition for Healthcare Professionals concentration is an open program, and students can declare this concentration at any time. Students are encouraged to work closely with both the Nutrition Major advisor and the Medical Professions Advisor to ensure that coursework and timing of coursework meet the student's needs.
