Continuing Education for Health Professionals Advisory Committee
Charge
The Continuing Education for Healthcare Professionals Advisory Committee will be charged
with:
- Taking an active role in planning and guiding the Department of Continuing Education for Health Professionals (DCEHP) in future program ideas obtained from needs assessment
- Providing new program ideas for possible development based on committee members' experiences in daily practice
- Assessing final evaluations of programs for the possibility of commencing a series of annual programs
- Suggesting and assisting in marketing techniques through societies or membership primarily targeted to physician populations
- Suggesting outside funding opportunities to be explored by the DCEHP.
- Suggesting specific research ideas for future development by DCEHP staff relating to innovative teaching methods, assessing the impact of educational activities, and seeking the best learning methods for health professionals.
- Assuring that proposed educational activities meet the primary goal of providing high quality educational opportunities that meet the needs of health professionals.
- Advising the DCEHP of ways that ETSU Academic Health Sciences faculty could gain regional recognition for their expertise/research topics through inclusion in educational activities; and
- Informing the DCEHP of ways to promote educational activities as a "service provider" to faculty and perspective registrants.
The charge for this committee is reviewed by the Dean at the start of each academic year, August 1.
Structure
The chair of the continuing medical education committee must hold the medical doctor
degree and be selected from the membership. Full membership shall consist of at least
13 members. Certain members may serve more than one criteria.
The following criteria should be represented among the members of the board:
- 5 ETSU AHSC faculty members who hold, MD or DO
- 1 faculty member from a DME or DBMS
- 1 representative from Graduate MEdical Education (resident & faculty ideal, but 1 required)
- 1 faculty member from Learning Resources
- 1 representative from the College of Nursing
- 1 representative from the College of Public Health
- 1 faculty member from the College of Pharmacy
- 1 at-large member with a professional degree representing the Tri-Cities Medical Community
- 2 medical students (first and second year)
- 1 representative for Academic Affairs
- 1 member representing Interprofessional Education
- 1 Director of CEHP
- 1 member with expertise in Instructional Education and Technology (recommended not required, at least on the subcommittee)
- 1 representative with Marketing expertise (recommended not required, at least on the subcommittee)
- 1 member representing the patient perspective in the community (recommend not require)
