The Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a concentration in Community Health prepares students to improve health outcomes and advance well-being across diverse populations with a focus on the Appalachian Highlands and beyond. The Public Health Minor provides students across all disciplines with a foundational understanding of population health, health disparities, and community-level interventions. This minor complements majors in nursing, allied health, psychology, social work, business, and biology by adding a population-focused and preventative perspective to their primary field of study. The MPH in Community and Behavioral Health prepares students to understand how social, psychological, behavioral, and environmental factors shape health and well-being. The Doctor of Public Health concentration in Community Health prepares current and future public health professionals and leaders to translate evidence into action, partner meaningfully with communities, and lead change that improves population health. At the heart of the program is a commitment to making a meaningful, real-world difference in the communities we work alongside by applying knowledge and evidence to address complex public health challenges. Grounded in community engagement, behavioral and social science, systems thinking, and evidence-informed practice, the program provides advanced training in intervention development and evaluation, qualitative inquiry, applied research, and the translation of evidence into practice.
