Facebook Externship in Partnership with Paragon One
The Honors College provides remote internship (externship) opportunities through a partnership with Paragon One. Currently, Paragon One is placing students in externships with Facebook; the company is specifically looking for third- and fourth-year undergraduates and master’s degree students (any area of study, including MBA).
This opportunity is open to all ETSU students and not just those in the Honors College.
These six-week practical learning experiences are free for the student. Training and professional development are included. This would be a great addition to your resume. Apply now!
Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE)
ORISE STEM internships and fellowships prepare the next generation of scientists, researchers, and engineers.
If you're an undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree and you're looking for an opportunity to enhance your education in a STEM-related discipline, participating in an internship or fellowship through the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education would be a perfect way for you to get real-world experience while being mentored by an established professional.
Experiences are offered at national laboratories and other federal research facilities across the United States.
Whether you are seeking a summer, fall or spring STEM internship, ORISE has a program for you. Search the database of opportunities here.
Other Opportunities
There are many other internship possibilities, of course. One of the best ways for ETSU students to find them is to create a Handshake account. Another way to find internship options is through good, old-fashioned networking. If you know someone who works at a place you'd like to intern, ask about opportunites there and request a referral. Think about other people you know who are likely to have connections, such as parents, extended family, faculty members, and even peers.
Occasionally, the Honors College has internships that faculty or staff have set up. Watch this space for information on such opportunities. Recently, the Honors College has created a social media internship with a local salon, a virtual tutoring internship with a private K-8 school in upstate New York, and an internship related to UNICEF's Child Friendly Cities Initiative for Johnson CIty.
Additionally, you may be eligible to earn academic credit through the Honors College (UHON 3800) for your internship experience. Credits vary from one to four depending on hours worked at the internship site. Contact Ms. Leybold leybold@etsu.edu for information.
