Strong BRAIN Institute Resilience Presentation Series Archive
- Dr. Chelsea Robertson, PH.D: Perceptions of Resilience-Informed Education In ETSU Postsecondary Instructors. This presentation is based on research conducted by Dr. Robertson at ETSU in the
Spring/Summer of 2021 to lessen the knowledge gap on trauma-informed (T-I) teaching
practices within higher education. The study assessed how instructors disciplinary
specialization related to their receptivity to compassionate teaching practices. A
second aim was to implement a brief intervention by informing instructors about ACE's,
subsequent effects on learning, and evidenced based T-I teaching practices.
- Dr. Michael Cull, PH.D. Resilience Reconsidered. The critical component in a more resilient, better engineered, helping system is the team. designing collaborative work in professional teams has the potential to transform our work and support a safer, more effective, and more engaged workforce. Not only are collaborative decisions of teams known to be more effective, the social connectedness that emerges from what the military calls "unit cohesion" may be our most efective buffer against the effects of burnout and work-related stress (including traumatic stress).
