Appalachian Places Magazine, Stories from the Highlands
An Online Appalachian Literary Magazine
Coming this Spring!!!
The ETSU Department of Appalachian Studies Program is set to launch an online magazine this spring. Appalachian Places will continue the program's long literary tradition of highlighting the people, places, issues and themes relating to the Appalachian Region.
This new magazine will help continue that tradition by following the example of its print- version forerunner, Now & Then Magazine, which ceased publication in 2017. For nearly 30 years, the ETSU Appalachian Studies Program published a high- quality print magazine devoted to the region. The new digital magazine will help the department continue this tradition. Additionally, the digital platform will allow the magazine to reach a broader audience, with a wider range of content examining many different aspects of the Appalachian Region. Appalachian Places will also serve as a platform for presenting similar issues and themes experienced by other highland regions around the world.
Former contributors to Now & Then Magazine- as well as potential new voices- are all encouraged to submit works to Appalachian Places before and after its launch this spring. An official call for submissions will be coming soon. Questions about the magazine may be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org
