The Department of Economics and Finance in concert with the College of Business and Technology has re-envisioned the Center of Banking to encompass the broader financial services industry—which has grown and changed tremendously over the last 20 years. Renamed the Center for the Study of Finance, and under the new leadership of Dr. Bill Trainor and Kevin Kilgore, the center will endeavor to be a leader and promoter for the College as a “real-world business educator” among students, faculty, financial institutions, and local businesses.
Partnerships are already being developed with the idea that ETSU can provide support, leadership, and expertise to local and regional financial institutions, businesses, and the community at large. Financial literacy endeavors have begun along with other initiatives, including future campus wide stock games, development of a financial trading center, and possible new degree programs which specifically target interdisciplinary collaboration (such as computer science in the Fintech area.)
