Two CBAT Students Inducted into 1911 Society
Two outstanding College of Business and Technology students have been honored with
induction into the prestigious 1911 Society. Named after the year ETSU was founded,
the 1911 Society recognizes the university's most notable graduates from undergraduate,
graduate, and professional programs. The selection committee evaluates applicants
on various criteria, including academic achievement, sustained service, honors and
awards, leadership, and personal narratives.

Piper Floyd, a computing and foreign languages student from Kingsport, Tennessee,
is one of the deserving inductees. Floyd has a passion for international endeavors
and was awarded the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship for her year abroad in Granada,
Spain. During her time there, she volunteered as a computing instructor to migrant
women and co-founded the Women in Tech event at ETSU to provide opportunities for
women in STEM. In addition to her international experiences, Floyd conducted undergraduate
research in machine learning, for which she became the first ETSU student to win the
prestigious Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. This fall, Floyd will pursue a master's
degree in robotics and a minor in space technologies at EPFL (École Polytechnique
Fédérale de Lausanne) in Switzerland.
Katelyn Haun, a general management and marketing communications graduate from Dandridge,
Tennessee, is the second inductee into the 1911 Society. Haun served as president
of both Alpha Delta Pi and College Panhellenic and as a member of the Preview and
Orientation Leader Organization during her undergraduate years. Her most significant
accomplishment was co-creating EPIC, a seminar for Fraternity and Sorority Life members
on risk management and community awareness. She was recognized with the ADPi National
Dorothy Shaw Leadership Award, Orientation Leader of the Year, and Sorority Woman
of the Year honors. Haun is continuing her education at ETSU in the Master of Business
Administration program this fall.
Congratulations to these two exceptional students! We look forward to watching their
continued success and contributions to their respective fields.
