Coaching
The Coaching Minor at East Tennessee State University is offered for students who
are interested in coaching but who do not want to major in teacher certification in
physical
education. This minor is designed to help students acquire skills and knowledge to
assist in preparation to coach sport teams at a variety of levels.
Students in the minor take 18 hours from the following courses: prepares students with competencies necessary to coach youth of all ages.
ETSU does not confer teacher certification for this minor.

Physical Education
The Physical Education Minor at East Tennessee State University is offered for students who are interested in physical education but who do not want to major in teacher certification in physical education. This minor is designed to help students acquire skills and knowledge to assist in preparation for entering the Master of Arts in Teaching program and for those who plan to work with children outside the school setting.

Clinical Exercise Science
The coursework in this minor complements programs in nutrition as well as other allied health programs by developing skills used in clinical settings related to physical activity. Fields of direct application include physical therapy, occupational therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, and athletic training.

Esports
The Esports Minor has been designed to enable students to develop competencies necessary
to join the esports industry in a variety of roles. Emphasis is placed on communication
and management of esports. The Department of Sport, Exercise, Recreation, & Kinesiology
also offers minors in Coaching, Park and Recreation, Sport Management, and Physical
Education.
