Division Statement | Faculty | Research/Scholarly Activities | ETSU Health
The ETSU Health, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine provides high-quality, compassionate inpatient care across Johnson City Medical Center, and Holston Valley Medical Center. Faculty hospitalists manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions, collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams and ensure coordinated, patient-centered care. All physicians are board certified and hold faculty appointments at the Quillen College of Medicine, where they contribute to leadership roles, patient-safety initiatives and quality-improvement programs. Continuous coverage is provided through a faculty rotational schedule to ensure uninterrupted care for hospitalized patients.
The division also maintains a strong academic mission, serving as a core training site for internal medicine residents and medical students. Hospitalist faculty provide hands-on supervision, lead daily rounds and guide trainees in diagnostic reasoning, evidence-based management and systems-based practice. Looking ahead, the Division of Hospital Medicine plans to grow its faculty, enhance scholarship in hospital-based quality initiatives and continue strengthening its educational programs. Its dual purpose remains central: delivering excellent inpatient care while preparing future physicians to excel in the practice of hospital medicine.
