I grew up in Argentina, where I was the first in my family to graduate from college.
I obtained my Ph.D. in Clinical Biochemistry from Tucuman National University. My
post-doctoral training is from the University of Alberta in Alberta, Canada. My main
professional interests are 1) Research on the mechanisms of atherosclerosis, cell
proliferation, and aging. 2) Research on the application of new methods of teaching
to medical students. I have been deeply involved in the process of curriculum transformation
and the adoption of new pedagogies and assessment methodologies at QCOM. Currently,
I am the Course Director of the Foundations of Medical Knowledge. My family and I
have lived in Johnson City for more than 20 years. My wife is a Medical Interpreter
for Ballad Health; our son is a sports analyst at ESPN and our daughter is a Profesional
Musician and Music Therapist. My main activities outside the university are photography,
kayaking, and mountain biking. My relaxing methods are playing flute and guitar.
