All ETSU students are welcome to participate in the Medical Student Summer Research Curriculum. Quillen medical students participating in the 2025 Medical Student Summer Research Program will receive a certificate of completion if they attend the live sessions through Zoom or watch the recorded sessions. All lectures will be posted on this page along with additional resources that may be helpful through the program.
The 6 sessions for this year include information on the following topics: Research Study Design, Library Resources, Data and Essential Statistics, Launching your Research Study, Crafting Abstracts and Posters, and Intro to REDCap and SPSS.
You must have a Panopto account to access these, and you can access all 2025 medical student research curriculum videos here: Medical Student Research Curriculum
2025 Medical Student Summer Research Symposium Information
The Medical Student Summer Research Symposium will be held on Friday, October 3rd
from 12-4 PM in Building 178 - Stanton Gerber Hall. Poster boards will be set up on
the mezzanine levels of the ground and first floors. View previous year poster examples
here.
This year, all participants will present their work in 2 formats: a 3-minute oral quickshot presentation of their project projected onto a videoboard/screen, as well as a traditional poster presentation using a physical posterboard.
Poster design/templates: Each poster board is 66 inches wide by 44 inches high. The size and design is up to the presenter as long as it fits on the poster board. Make sure the poster is easy to see and read. ETSU’s Biomedical Communications website has several poster templates ready for download.
Monetary awards and certificates will be given to the top 3 presentations in both clinical/population health and basic science research categories.
