5th ANNUAL ETSU WINTER COAT & BLANKET DRIVEand GIVEAWAY
The official ETSU Winter Coat & Blanket Drive has concluded. However, for those folks who still need a coat or blanket you can obtain one at Bucky's Food Pantry. We will still be accepting coat and blanket donations through the winter months.
On behalf of Bucky's Food Pantry and Bucky's Food Pantry Advisory Committee we would like to thank all the folks at ETSU who contributed coats, blankets, and accessories for the giveaway. The ETSU community delivered well over 100 adult coats and over 60 childrens coats. The giveaway has been very much a success with over 90 coats and over 50 blankets given out to the ETSU community.
We would be remiss if we did not thank student, staff and faculty volunteers during the drive and giveaway. Thanks so much for all of your help, suggestions and all that you do!!
LOCATION - We have moved into the main Central Receiving warehouse by the Buc Ridge Apartment complex, on Treasure Lane. We are thrilled to be in this larger location and are also blessed to have a bus stop on the gold route! See map below:

Grand Opening of Bucky's Food Pantry, November 14, 2012
A Challenge to Other ETSU Departments
The Student Dietetic Association (SDA) sponsored a food drive "challenge" for Bucky's Pantry. The challenge was between the different classes/professors to see which class could donate/collect the most food items for the pantry, and the winner gets breakfast (or lunch) for their class. "The timing for this was on the heels of Hunger Awareness Month and national Food Day, as we had been studying issues surrounding the topic in some of the classes."
"Anyway........the challenge is over, the winner has been proclaimed, and we have sent all the food – 250 items! – to the Pantry. We would love for other departments to carry on the challenge and collect food all over campus for the Pantry. It could be huge!"
1) The food pantry builds upon ETSU’s history of philanthropic culture and service on the campus by creating new collaborative learning opportunities for students in a variety of academic departments and disciplines.
2) The food pantry provides the opportunity to assess the prevalence of food insecurity in ETSU college students; to assess retention and health indicators in ETSU college students; and to study the relationships among food insecurity, retention, and health in ETSU college students.
3) The food pantry educates the ETSU community about resources available to them on and off campus; helps them gain entry into any government assistance programs [desired and or needed] by providing guidance; and sharpens budgeting skills.

The mission of the food pantry is to diminish or end food insecurity for the ETSU community in the most convenient, discreet and easily accessible means possible.
The goal of the food pantry is to aid those in need of food resources as well as raise awareness of food insecurity and hunger on ETSU campus. Ultimately, the food pantry can expand its resources to cover non-food items such as hygiene products and clothing, if donations are made available.
University School Project Benefits Buckys Food Pantry.
A service project conducted by the University School benefited Buckys Food Pantry in November of 2016.
Teachers, Amy Horton, Pam Cromie, Jill Fernandez, and Erica Preswood organized an inter-class scavenger hunt for items to donate to Buckys and delivered box after box of food and baby products to the Pantry.
We at Buckys Food Pantry thank the University School and their students for their generous gift of their time and efforts to help those in need.
