Meet Your Ombuds: A Safe, Confidential Resource for Staff
ETSU’s Ombuds, Dr. Allan Forsman and Dr. Amber Kinser, are available to all staff and faculty. This confidential, informal resource offers a space to raise questions, explore concerns, and seek resolution outside of formal university processes. Ombuds services are rooted in the standards of the International Ombuds Association and are designed to protect your privacy and promote a healthier campus climate.
Whether you're unsure where to go with a concern or simply need someone to listen, the Ombuds are here to help.
What the Ombuds Will Do:
- Listen to concerns and help clarify issues
- Provide a confidential space for discussion
- Help interpret university policies and procedures
- Guide you toward appropriate campus resources
- Facilitate informal resolution or serve as neutral mediators
- Offer communication and conflict resolution training
- Remain impartial and independent in all interactions
What the Ombuds Will Not Do:
- Take sides or act as personal advocates
- Participate in formal grievances or appeals
- Provide legal advice or overturn decisions
- Keep records of your visit
- Act without your consent or mandate university policy
