How to Make the Most of a Career Fair
Before the Fair
Prepare before you arrive so you feel confident and ready.
Research Employers: Review employer profiles on Handshake and visit company websites to learn about available opportunities. Click here to view upcoming career fairs.
Choose Professional Attire: Visit Bucky’s Closet in the Carrier Center on the second floor of the Culp Center, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m., for free professional clothing and guidance.
Review Your Resume: Schedule a resume review through Navigate , use a resume template if needed, and bring extra copies to the fair.
During the Fair
Make meaningful connections and keep track of your conversations.
Start Conversations: Keep an open mind and speak with organizations beyond your first choices. Ask about available roles, company culture, and next steps.
Take Notes: Record the names of employers you meet, opportunities discussed, and follow-up details. Bring a padfolio or tote bag for materials.
After the Fair
Continue the conversation after the event ends.
Follow Up and Stay Connected: Send a thank-you message, ask a thoughtful question, or stay connected with employers you meet.
