Welcome to the East Tennessee Fraternity Council at East Tennessee State University!
The East Tennnessee Fraternity Council (ETFC) at ETSU is the governing body of eight (8) social fraternities represented on campus that unites and supports a diverse array of chapters, fostering leadership, scholarship, service, and brotherhood among its members. As advocates for its member organizations, ETFC strives to cultivate an environment where individuals can grow personally, academically, and professionally.
The ETFC member organizations at ETSU are: Alpha Sigma Phi, Beta Upsilon Chi, Kappa Sigma, Phi Delta Theta, Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Chi, Sigma Phi Epsilon. These eight fraternities create the East Tennnessee Fraternity Council (ETFC) at ETSU.

Alpha Sigma Phi | ΑΣΦ
Established on December 6, 1845, Alpha Sigma Phi stands as a brotherhood dedicated
to the holistic development of its members under the motto "To Better The Man." Its
distinguished cardinal and stone colors symbolize the values of silience, charity,
purity, honor, and patriotism. The fraternity's mascot, the Phoenix, embodies the
ideas of rebirth and renewal. Through a commitment to scholarship, personal growth,
and strong bonds of brotherhood, Alpha Sigma Phi members strive to better themselves

Beta Upsilon Chi | ΒΥΧ
Founded on April 27, 1985, Beta Upsilon Chi (pronounced “Bucs”) is a fraternity grounded
in faith and brotherhood, operating under the motto "Brothers Under Christ." Sporting
purple and white as their official colors, BYX embraces the Buck as its mascot. A
national fraternity of men who believe there’s a more meaningful way to enjoy college
and fulfill God’s purpose for our lives. BYX exists to equip and empower college Christian
men to live faithfully and lead courageously. Lasting far beyond our college years,
BYX is a lifelong community that provides spiritual growth, social connections, and
selfless leadership through life-changing experiences. BYX men are raising families,
leading organizations, and strengthening churches to impact our communities for Christ.

Kappa Sigma | ΚΣ
Established on December 10, 1869, Kappa Sigma embodies the values of fellowship, leadership,
scholarship, and service under the motto "A Brotherhood Like No Other." Kappa Sigma
has proudly held the title of the largest social fraternity in the world for over
two decades. The fraternity proudly represents its identity through scarlet, white,
and emerald-green colors and identifies with the Star and Crescent as its symbol.
Kappa Sigma's mission centers on camaraderie and personal growth and development,
encouraging its members to pursue excellence in all facets of life while upholding
their values and giving back to the community through their "Military Heroes Campaign"

Phi Delta Theta | ΦΔΘ
Phi Delta Theta, founded on December 26, 1848, holds a steadfast commitment to brotherhood,
leadership, and academic excellence encapsulated in the motto "One Man is No Man."
The fraternity proudly dons azure and argent (blue and white) as its official colors
and identifies the Owl as its mascot. With a strong focus on community service and
ethical leadership, Phi Delta Theta members aim to foster lifelong bonds of brotherhood
while making a positive impact on society through their dedication to service and

Pi Kappa Alpha | ΠΚΑ
Established on March 1, 1868, Pi Kappa Alpha, known as PIKE, embodies a commitment
to brotherhood, leadership, and service under the motto "Once a Pike, Always a Pike."
The fraternity proudly wears garnet and old gold as its official colors and identifies
the Oak Tree as its symbol. PIKE emphasizes personal growth and academic excellence
while fostering a strong brotherhood among its members, encouraging them to be leaders

Sigma Alpha Epsilon | ΣΑΕ
Founded on March 9, 1856, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, recognized as SAE, upholds the principles
of friendship, scholarship, and service under the motto "Phi Alpha" (Everlasting Friendship).
Sporting royal purple and old gold as their official colors, SAE identifies the Lion
as its symbol. Members of SAE focus on building strong relationships, academic achievement,

Sigma Chi | ΣΧ
Established on June 28, 1855, Sigma Chi emphasizes the values of friendship, justice,
and learning under the motto "In Hoc Signo Vinces" (In This Sign, You Will Conquer).

Sigma Phi Epsilon | ΣΦΕ
Founded on November 1, 1901, Sigma Phi Epsilon, known as SigEp, centers its principles
on virtue, diligence, and brotherly love under the motto "Building Balanced Men."
The fraternity's official colors are purple and red, and it identifies the Skull and
Crossbones as its symbol. SigEp emphasizes personal development, leadership, and service,
providing its members with opportunities to excel academically and in leadership roles,
