The Eco-Nuts are a group of student workers that are paid by the Department of Sustainability to help run and plan sustainability events and initiatives on campus. What made you want to become an EcoNut: I’m very passionate about the environment and thought the EcoNut group would be perfect for me to express my love for the earth and help others to try and save it.

What is one of your goals as an EcoNut: Help raise awareness about the importance of saving the enviroment (and help the environment!)

Other groups: I am an RA, as well as involved in the psych club

What made you want to become an EcoNut: I love nature and respecting our environment has always been very important to me.

What is one of your goals as an EcoNut: One of my goals as an EcoNut would be to help students on campus that they can make a difference in our environment just by becoming aware of how much we waste on a daily basis in our lives and try to do something to reduce that waste.

What made you want to become an EcoNut: I worked closely with the department since I started school at ETSU and just wanted to continue to do more.

What is one of your goals as an EcoNut: To educate students about why they should care about the impact they have on the environment.

What made you want to become an EcoNut: I have a passion for minimizing my negative effects on the planet and sharing this knowledge with others

What is one of your goals as an EcoNut: I want to make friends who share a similar passion about our impact on the environment

What made you want to become an EcoNut: I am passionate about healthy living, reversing climate change, and spreading awareness to others

What is one of your goals as an EcoNut: To educate and engage with students about environmental issues.

What made you want to become an EcoNut: I am passionate about the planet and want to protect what beautiful place we have to live in. Since nature is so important for our well-being and gives us everything we need, I feel it is my responsibility to return the favor and take care of Earth.

What is one of your goals as an EcoNut: I want to set an example through my actions as an EcoNut. I want to show people that these actions can make a difference for our planet and society and that they can do the same.

What made you want to become an EcoNut: I loved it last year and cannot wait to continue to help clean up campus and educate students!

What made you want to become an EcoNut: The opportunity to create a more environmentally friendly campus.

What is one of your goals as an EcoNut: To increase awareness of the need for environmental activism while connecting with like-minded people.

Ashlynn Kelly

Major: Biology

Favorite activities: cooking, hiking, long walks, watching horror movies, trying new coffee shops, snuggling my cat

What made you want to become an EcoNut: I started making small changes in my own everyday lifestyle such as using a metal straw, sorting out my recycling, and using reusable grocery bags and saw how my small changes can have a big effect. I want other students to know that even the little things matter, and we can really make a difference together.

What is one of your goals as an EcoNut: My main goal is outreach, I want each student to be environmentally aware and know how easy it is to live sustainably. Educating students is vital in our fight with climate change which is why outreach is important.

Favorite activities: knitting, reading, sewing, hiking, painting, playing ukulele, singing, gardening

What made you want to become an EcoNut: I wanted to get involved on campus and in the community making a difference. I am passionate about plants and herbs in particular, and reducing waste. Being able to help preserve our beautiful Appalachian mountains is important to me.

What is one of your goals as an EcoNut: To encourage other students to take even just one small step towards a more sustainable and less wasteful life. The little things add up!
