You can make an even greater impact at East Tennessee State University through your employer's matching gift program. Thousands of companies match charitable donations made by their employees, and many also extend matching gift benefits to retirees and spouses. Depending on your employer's program, your gift could be doubled—or even tripled—at no additional cost to you.
Matching gifts provide additional support for scholarships, academic programs, research, athletics, student experiences, and other university priorities. Each company has its own matching gift guidelines, eligibility requirements, and submission process. Some employers allow you to designate your match to the same area you supported, while others require matching gifts to be directed to a general university fund.

While your donation to a 501(c)3 organization is tax-deductible, your matching gift is not tax-deductible. Only your contributions are eligible for tax deduction. Each party involved (yourself and your employer) can only take deductions for contributions they directly made to the nonprofit.
