INTERESTED IN ART & DESIGN?
Spring 2024 Applicants Deadline December 1st: GET STARTED |
The Creative Arts Scholarship Program is for first-time, out-of-state graduate and undergraduate students, including international and transfer students. Applicants must be accepted to ETSU before they will be considered for a Creative Arts Scholarship.
Art & Design offers training in visual arts and the history of art in areas such as Drawing, Painting,
Graphic Design, Fibers, Printmaking, Ceramics, Jewelry & Metals, Sculpture, Analog
& Digital Photography and Extended Media.
The Department of Art & Design provides comprehensive training in the visual arts
and art history. Our students develop problem solving skills, a strong work ethic,
and an ability to communicate verbally and visually through their time with us. Alumni
from our program are thriving in various careers in the arts. Our faculty includes
internationally exhibited artists, published authors, and a Guggenheim fellow. We
are affiliated with the Mary B. Martin School of the Arts at ETSU, which sponsors
an eclectic calendar of visiting artists, curators, art historians, and exhibitions
on the ETSU campus each semester.
The Graphic Design program within the Department of Art and Design emphasizes visual
problem solving with a variety of graphic media. Illustration, typography, photography,
and computer technology are used to design branding and corporate identity systems
(logos), ads, packages, displays, posters, websites, animations, and other collateral
forms of visual communication.

SELECTION
Scholarship is available only to students that have been accepted to ETSU and whose
legal residency is out-of-state. Students who reside in Scott, Lee, and Washington
counties in Virginia and Avery, Watauga, Mitchell, Madison, and Yancey counties in
North Carolina are eligible for in-state tuition and therefore are not eligible for
a CAS. Additionally, the CAS is only available to incoming first semester freshman,
or first semester transfer or international students. Students who are already attending
ETSU are not eligible. The amount of the award is equal to the out-of-state portion
of tuition and fees. The net result is that you will pay the same fees as an in-state
student. It is renewable for up to eight semesters.
