In addition, ETSU has a strong research program in Astronomy, with five Ph.D. Astronomers among the faculty. Astronomical research at ETSU includes the study of:
- Interacting Galaxies
- The Intergalactic Medium
- Variable Stars
- Hot Stars and Stellar Winds
