Before relocating to western North Carolina and accepting a faculty position at ETSU, Dr. Kase practiced psychiatry in the Philadelphia area for 18 years, splitting her time between a private psychodynamic psychotherapy practice and various clinical and administrative positions in the community. Her community experience ranges from clinical treatment and administrative management of outpatient clinics and residential facilities--including the development of a treatment unit for the women's prison of the Philadelphia Prison System--to caring for people with disabling mental illness who are homeless or previously incarcerated.
Dr. Kase earned a degree in Humanities from Penn State University after attending Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. She graduated from Penn State University College of Medicine and completed her residency in psychiatry at The Institute of the Pennsylvania Hospital where she served as chief resident. Dr. Kase is compassionate, she understands how to listen deeply, and she is comfortable managing crises. While proficient with psychiatric medication, Tele-medicine and TMS treatment, Dr. kase is devoted to empowering each individual to develop insight, self-acceptance and a fulfilled lif
