In the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene, employees were allowed up to 15 hours of leave to help with relief and recovery work. As we knew then, and as becomes clearer each day, real recovery from the storm takes years, not weeks or months. The summer of 2025, ETSU will be coordinating a series of Hurricane Recovery Workdays for departments, offices, and units to come together during a workday and give back through direct, hands-on service.
Interested offices are invited to join us for one of the upcoming virtual orientations to get more information and ask questions. Additional information regarding the workdays will be posted here following the orientations.

FAQ
-
Can I / My Team serve any time we want over the summer?
No; These employee service days are pre-organized through the university and require you to participate on one of the specified dates (registering in advance required). -
Can we serve as individuals or as a department/office?
Both; When completing the form, you will be asked to specify if you are signing up as an individual employee or an office or department. If registering as a department, only one individual will need to complete the form on behalf of the department. -
What will be the hours of service on the specified day?
The exact time and needs will be dependent on your assigned date and service location. Expect service to take place approximately 9AM - 4:30PM (during the regular business day). All projects will be within 30-45 of ETSU's main campus. -
What kind of service will we be participating in?
Due to the nature of the work, you can expect service projects to be physical in nature and may require light lifting or climbing. (Home rebuilds, painting, repairs, etc.)
