ETSU was created in 1911 to meet the needs of the region and to prepare teachers. The ETSU mission reflects the same role that it has had since its inception: “to improve the quality of life of the people of this region and beyond.”
The Office of Community Engagement is committed to ETSU’s strategic priority of leading the region forward through community engagement and service. We will work towards that goal by:
Spearheading ETSU’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) “Go Beyond the Classroom” to elevate community-engaged learning as a vehicle for achieving key student learning outcomes and enhancing student success.
- Creating opportunities for students to engage with the community that promote community and public service and active citizenship.
- Promote service and facilitate ETSU-Community Partnerships that advance research, workforce and talent development, and economic development in the region.
ETSU continues to prepare students to become productive, enlightened citizens who actively serve their communities and the world.
Students at ETSU have a myriad of opportunities to engaged in experiential learning opportunities and critical reflection to facilitate an optimal student learning environment to connect classroom content to direct real world experiences.
