General information regarding New Student Orientation
Below is general information regarding New Student Orientation. If you have specific questions or need more information please contact us at orientation@etsu.edu. Provide your name and E number for reference.

When and how will I be contacted regarding Orientation?
We begin contacting students via their ETSU assigned email as early as December for students entering in the Summer and Fall semester, and October for students entering in the Spring semester. Your email information was listed in your acceptance letter. -
When should I register for Orientation?
You should register early to receive your first choice of dates. Space is limited and dates will close when filled, even for virtual orientation. You will be sent a confirmation email to your email account once you have completed registration for orientation.

What happens during the LAUNCH online pre-orientation?
The LAUNCH programs provide a wealth of online resources designed to assist you in your transition to ETSU. It is a great Pre-Orientation tool.

What should I wear to Orientation?
You should dress casual for Orientation. You may want to bring a light jacket or sweater since we will be in air-conditioned facilities. Wear comfortable shoes for walking around campus. Check the weather and plan accordingly. You may be outside and moving from building to building. Bring an umbrella or rain jacket if there is a chance of rain.

How do I change my orientation date or add additional guests?
Once you have made a reservation and wish to change the session date you can log into the orientation system and change your date or add guests at any time. Reservations can be changed to another orientation if space is available. You will be sent a confirmation email to your email account once the request has been processed.

What if I or a guest needs special accommodations during Orientation?
Parents, guests, or students requiring special assistance or interpreters for the hearing-impaired should contact the Office of Disability Services with questions at (423) 439-8346 to request an accommodation.

What are the required Immunizations?
It is recommended that you submit appropriate and complete immunization documentation to the Health Clinic two weeks prior to your orientation. Failure to do so could impact your ability to register for classes. Please click HERE to see immunization requirements and important information. Please read this information thoroughly.

What if I am not taking classes on the main Johnson City campus?
If your program of study is completely online OR you are taking all coursework away from the main Johnson City campus, be aware that you will receive a separate Online/Cohort invite to complete.
Students who plan to take all of their classes at ETSU Kingsport will have the opportunity to meet with Kingsport academic advisors during the main campus orientation by attending an information session and/or advisement. In addition, students who want to take their classes in Kingsport can contact the ETSU Kingsport Advisement team at (423)392-8000 after they’re admitted for further information and/or to schedule a pre-advisement appointment prior to attending their scheduled orientation.

What is the Orientation fee?
ETSU's New Student Orientation fee is $30 per student and $30 per guest. These fees are non-refundable. ETSU's New Student Orientation and guest fees cover the costs associated with the LAUNCH Pre-Orientation program, operating the Orientation programs, and other activities that support student's transition to ETSU.

Where and when do I check-in for Orientation?
Please plan to arrive on campus, park, and check-in at the D.P Culp Student Center on the first floor. Check-In starts at 8:15 a.m. Specific details will be available in the confirmation email sent to your ETSU email address.
