Fall 2024: BIOL 1010/1011 Biology for Non-majors with Lab
Reflection on Using High-Impact Teaching Practices
I made my course entirely open access, and I implemented asynchronous learning activities to engage active learning and prepare students for our time in class. I also began every new unit with a concept mapping exercise to structure the knowledge in the room.
I would use my active learning activities synchronously. I think the concept mapping
and open access were great decisions, but I think my activities would benefit from
more guidance and feedback.
Reflection on Gen Ed Scholars Institute
The Gen Ed Scholars Institute equipped me with many new tools and skills to implement in my classroom. However, I think the most meaningful part of the GESI was the sense of community and rejuvenation I feel around my teaching praxis.
