Four Teaching Essentials
This is a four part workshop series on the teaching essentials. Faculty who complete all four parts of the series will receive a certificate and a digital badge. This series may be particularly useful for new or junior faculty.
The Four Teaching Essentials workshops are:

High-Impact Teaching Practices: Spring 2025
The options available for this badge will vary depending on CTE offerings for the current semester.
For this badge, you workshop attendance can carry over from one semester to the next, even if a workshop previously included (that you attended) is no longer included. However, you are encouraged to implement and reflect close to your workshop attendances, so that the information you've learned is fresh and easier to recall as you put what you've learned into practice.

Attend or Complete (if available online) THREE:
- Question Formulation Technique (QFT) workshop (can double-count toward Critical Conversations badge)
- Active & Collaborative Learning workshop (can double-count toward 4 Teaching Essentials badge)
- Community of Learners workshop (available as asynchronous workshop; can double-count toward 4 Teaching Essentials badge)
- Using Questions to Drive Thinking & Learning workshop
- Using Images for Thinking & Learning workshop
- CEL Introductory Session
Attend or View (if recorded) ONE:
- Tips for Designing Your Class COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) Project
- Flash Mentoring: Simple but Effective High-Impact Teaching Practices
Implement 2 or more High-Impact Teaching Practices (learned in above events) in at least one of your classes.
Can be done during the current semester or the following academic year.
Please try to implement NEW or SIGNIFICANTLY REVISED practices based on approaches you learned from the sessions above, rather than ones you've already been using.
Complete, with integrity, a reflection about the implementation.

Critical Conversations in the Classroom
The workshops and experiences included for this badge help you learn how to hold challenging conversations in a productive and supportive space, as well as encourage open and broad inquiry from your students.
