May 2026 Teaching Retreat: Carnegie Hotel
A combination of work sessions, course reflection, and class revisions; light breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks provided
Join us on Tuesday, May 12th, 8:15 - 4:15, for a day of camaraderie, learning, and planning time to revise classes and get a jump on spring course preps!
Our goals for this day are threefold:
Create opportunities for solidarity, support, and community with your teaching peers on campus.- Offer light opportunities, all optional, to learn new approaches to teaching and planning.
- Provide dedicated time and space, as preferred, for focused, intentional revision & planning of summer & fall classes.
(And we'll feed you along the way!)
Who can register? Anyone teaching classes at ETSU!
- We most certainly welcome our part-time instructors and graduate teaching assistants!

As you enjoy a light breakfast, chat with your teaching colleagues and build community. Get ready for a day of productivity!

8:45 - 10:15 Work Session I
Course Planning Time & Optional Sessions
You can choose to spend some or all of this time working on your summer or fall classes. Quiet work space is available in the Wilder Room; discussion work space is available in Grand Soldiers Ballroom. The Taylor Salons (lower level) are also available work space when the scheduled Flash Mentoring session for that room is not underway.
If you'd like to learn (or get refreshed on) some teaching tidbits, you are welcome to attend either/both of the in-person Flash Mentoring sessions, below.
