Resident Eligibility

Resident applicants must meet the following qualifications for appointment to the Quillen College of Medicine residency programs:
- Graduates of medical schools in the U.S. and Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), or
- Graduates of medical schools in the U.S. and Canada accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or
- Graduates of medical schools outside the U.S. and Canada who have a currently valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates
- Graduates of medical schools outside the U.S. who have completed a Fifth Pathway program provided by an LCME accredited medical school.
Additional departmental requirements are as follows:

All graduates of U.S. accredited medical or osteopathic schools, along with ECFMG- approved international medical schools are invited to apply.
- Graduates of allopathic medical schools in the U.S. and Canada accredited by the
Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) who also meet the following
criteria: - Received scores of 180 or higher on USMLE Step 1 & 2 exams (within 2
attempts) - All interested medical students from our sponsoring institution, ETSU Quillen College of Medicine, will be granted an interview.
- Graduates of osteopathic medical schools in the U.S. accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) who also meet the following criteria: Prefer USMLE scores for all DO candidates. Received scores of 180 or higher on USMLE Step 1 & 2 exams (within 2 attempts) o Received scores of 500 or higher on COMLEX 1 & 2 exams (within 2 attempts)
- Graduates of ECFMG-approved medical schools outside of the U.S. and Canada
who also meet the following qualifications: - Graduate of an ECFMG approved medical school within the last 3 years,
unless you are currently in a U.S. ACGME residency training program - Possess a current valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG)
- Possessan ECFMG-sponsored J-1 visa or be a U.S. citizen
- Received scores of 220 or higher on USMLE Step 1 & 2 exams (within two attempts)
- Possess excellent written and spoken English skills
- Completed one year of U.S. clinical (direct patient care) experience
- We do not offer externship or observership at this time
- Graduates of allopathic medical schools in the U.S. and Canada accredited by the
Resident Applicant Selection/Recruitment
The Department of OB/GYN at East Tennessee State University seeks applicants who demonstrate
proven scholarship, a high level of preparedness, ability, and aptitude.Communication
skills, integrity, compassion, courage, and stability are as important as an enthusiasm
for patient-care, teaching and research. Greater attention will be given to applications
which include excellent reference letters and to candidates who have demonstrated
the ability to fulfill a rigorous curriculum. We will not interview applicants with
felony convictions. The Program does not discriminate with regard to sex, race, age,

The Program uses Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) to process and review applications. We participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)for all of our training positions according to NRMP policies and procedures. Only applications received through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) will be considered. ERAS normally opens in mid to late August, and we begin downloading files on September 1. Our deadline for all applications is December 1.

To be invited for an interview, your application must be intact and complete. Your application is complete when we have received the following information via ERAS:
- Completed application
- Medical School Dean's Letter
- Medical School transcript
- Three letters of recommendation indicating you ability to fulfill a rigorous curriculum.
- Personal Statement
- Medical School Transcript
- CV
- USMLE or COMLEX transcripts - please remember that you personally must
request that the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) send your
USMLE scores to the ERAS Post Office for transmittal to programs. - ECFMG Certification, if applicable
Once your complete application has been received, it will be reviewed by members of the Interview Selection Committee. Interviews are granted by invitation only. We do not offer interviews applicants with felony convictions.
East Tennessee State University and Quillen College of Medicine are committed to maintaining

Residency Program will neither record nor distribute any part of any interview conducted
on a virtual platform (examples include: Zoom, WebEx, Skype, etc.). This includes
screenshots,

the state in which our
institution is located requires only one-party consent. Likewise, we ask that you,
as a candidate, agree to the same to preserve the integrity of the interview process.
