Research Opportunities for Students
Research is a vital part of the mission at the Quillen College of Medicine. Our scientists are actively conducting basic and clinical/population health research to improve the quality of lives of people in the region and Beyond. A critical aspect of research at Quillen is its contribution to the education of trainees (undergraduate, graduate, and medical students). Trainee engagement and exposure in research helps in the development of critical thinking skills, improves ability to communicate scientific information, and builds self-confidence.
Students Testimonial

Why did you decide to participate in the Summer Research Program?
- I felt it would likely be one of my last real opportunities to dive into a basic science project and better understand how bench research is done. I also really love trying to discover something that no one else has discovered yet, and this program/project provided that opportunity.

Why do you recommend other students participate in the program?
- I recommend anyone to participate in this program regardless of their future career goals. Everyone could gain valuable skills from participating in research, and it provides good experiences to use in applying to residency and beyond. I had a great time and do not regret it.
