Role Description

Responsible for planning, supervising, and participating in general operations or a related operational service specialty area. Provides staff supervision to include scheduling work, managing performance, identifying training needs, and providing input on hiring. This role is typically designated as essential personnel and the primary focus is on supervision of operation units and employees.

Levels

Operations Supervisor 1 - MR 5 Performs the functions of the Operations Specialist, in addition to the daily oversight of an area. Assists in developing procedures to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and university policies and regulations. Leads, trains, and provides technical guidance and assistance to others. Applies broader aspects of established practices and procedures to situations not falling clearly within the limitations of accepted practices. Typically Non-Exempt. Education/Experience: Typically requires a high school diploma and three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Applicable certification/license may be required.

Operations Supervisor 2 - MR 6 Supervises other supervisors and/or leads. Responsible for administrative oversight such as reporting, inventory control, forecasting revenues, sales projections, and monitoring expenditures. Recommends personnel actions, trains employees, manages work schedules, monitors overtime, and approves timesheets. Serves as an expert resource, provides technical guidance, and oversees projects and assignments. Reviews and evaluates requests. Oversees and inspects in progress and completed work to ensure standards are met. Develops and monitors operating policies and procedures. Develops and monitors operations, maintenance, and cleaning procedures and policies. Typically Exempt. Education/Experience: Typically requires a high school diploma and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Applicable certification/license may be required.

Operations Supervisor 3 - MR 7 Oversees and assigns the work of others in multiple functional areas. Supervises, motivates, trains, and manages personnel, including performance management; and recommends personnel actions. Supervises financial activities. Provides input toward long-term operational goals and improvements. Ensures compliance with applicable rules, procedures, and regulations. Orders materials for special projects. Works with external stakeholders to complete projects. Typically Exempt. Education/Experience: Typically requires a high school diploma and five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Applicable certification/license may be required.
