University High School is happy to announce that Coach Pamela Penaloza has agreed
to serve as the high school boys soccer coach beginning this spring season. A native
of Colombia, Coach Penaloza is a decorated athlete and coach. In fact, she was a
four-time All-State team selection high school and was later selected for the Colombian
National Team system twice, where she competed in 2012 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup
for Colombia. She also received a full scholarship to compete collegiately, playing
for Austin Peay University before transferring and playing for ETSU. She served as
team captain at both collegiate stops. She also has much experience a as coach, ranging
from U4 through high school and most recently served as head coach of the UH girls
program last fall, a role she plans to continue along with leading the boys team.
Coach Penaloza graduated from ETSU with a master’s degree in Brand and Media Strategy. She
will be assisted by Coach Chris Mitchell, a native of Johnson City, TN, who most recently
served as the Assistant Coach of the UH girls program last Fall. He plans on continuing
in that role as well as leading the boys. Mitchell has four years of high school soccer
experience as well as over three years as social media director and contributing host
of The WOSO Show- a women’s soccer podcast network. Coach Chris is also the Director
of Media Services at University School.
