Elementary School Honoree – Ruby VanZant (2nd Grade)

Ruby is an active participant in our classroom. She does not give up as learner even if a task feels challenging. Her growth as a learner this year has been incredible! Ruby engages in classroom activities with enthusiasm and has a true love of learning. She is a talented artist and musician too!

Getting to know Ruby:

  • What are you most looking forward to this summer?

“I’m looking forward to going to Montreal, Canada.  We may be going as a family for vacation.  We’ve lived there before I started Kindergarten.  My mom worked there.  I’d like to see my friends again that live there.”

  • What is one feature you’d have to have on your dream car?

“I’d like for my family to have Jeep!  I like Jeeps, they’re cool. I’d like one we could take the top off of.”

  • What is your favorite part of school?

“Probably my teachers and friends.  I like my table where I sit.  I like the teachers, Mrs. Doran and Mrs. Cindy.  They are the best!  They are really nice.  They are a mix of strict and nice, and that helps you learn.”

“Ruby is incredibly kind and helpful in the classroom,” said Mrs. Doran, Ruby’s 2nd-grade teacher. “She even asked if she was able to nominate a student for student spotlight-because she truly wants to lift others up! Ruby enjoys making others feel valued and is a friend to all. She treats everyone with respect, kindness, and care. Ruby sets a positive example for her classmates each day!”
