High School Honoree – Graham Mefford (9th Grade)
Graham has been a true leader this year in the Entrepreneur's Club. His enthusiasm is highly contagious, and he is quick to offer support to the others in the club. He is polite, respectful, and an excellent student. He is willing to take risks, as evidenced by his recent entry into an international competition. Graham is the first University School student to enter a submission for the Blue Ocean High School Entrepreneur Pitch Competition, the largest and most prestigious virtual business competition for high school students in the world.
Getting to know Graham:
- What is your favorite game to play?
“I enjoy mountain biking. It’s exclusive to mountainous regions, like this area where we live. There are competitive races, and the I enjoy the competition aspect. It’s good exercise, it requires the usage of most of your body. It’s a lot of fun.”
- If money were no object, what gift would you purchase for a family member?
“Let’s say a plane (private jet). We take trips pretty often, and it would be cool to not have to drive if the location is far away or fly on the commercial airline’s schedule. That would benefit the whole family.”
- What brings you the most joy? What annoys you the most?
“Giving other people joy brings me joy. I’m currently performing community service hours at the Salvation Army every week. I enjoy helping the community. Not much annoys me. I guess I’d like for school to start 30 minutes earlier and then release 30 minutes earlier, at 2:30pm. That would give us more time for extracurriculars.”
"Graham has grit! He is passionate, driven, and willing to share his ideas with others,” commented Mrs. Holley Ziglar, Club Sponsor for the Entrepreneur's Club. “Graham truly embodies the entrepreneurial spirit.””
