University High School Student Spotlight - December 5, 2022

High School Honoree – Davis Hampton & Ayush Patel

Davis and Ayush assisted a fellow student who was injured by helping him walk from Brooks Gym and carrying his belongings voluntarily. Davis made a special trip to take crutches to the student. Ayush assured that the student was okay until his parent picked him up. Both Ayush and Davis could have left for the day as they have Dual Enrollment after the class in which the injury occurred. They modeled compassionate and altruistic behavior that was inspiring to me and the others who witnessed it. Good job guys!

Getting to know Davis & Ayush:

  • What is your favorite hobby outside of school? (answered by Davis)

“Playing baseball, I have a passion for it.  I’ve been playing for 12 or 13 years and I like hanging with my baseball boys.”

  • What is something most people don’t know about you that you’d like them to know? (answered by Ayush)

“My Scout troop was on a three-day hike on the Appalachian Trial.  We came across another hiker that was distraught.  My troop and I were able to help him by providing snacks, water, & emergency SOS bag. We were able to reunite him with his pack. That’s how I got my trail name: Trail Angel.”

  • As you look back over your time at University school, what is something that you are appreciative of? (answered by Ayush)

“All the great friends I have made over the years.  We’ve spent a lot of time together making good memories.  I’ve met my best friends here.”

"Ayush & Davis's generosity and concern for their classmate was a noticeable sentiment and very much appreciated by the injured and me,” commented school nurse Beverly Pritchard.
