University Middle School Student Spotlight - January 17, 2023

Middle School Honoree – Briar Schubert

Briar has grown so much through his three years of middle school. He started out as a very shy and quiet student, but this year he has really come out of his shell. Briar can always be found smiling and loves to bring out smiles in those around him. He is a very hard worker and shows a lot of perseverance. He is a team player - he works well with others, he is trustworthy, and he has a kind heart.

Getting to know Briar:

  • What’s the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

“My dad has told me to keep my head up.  Not to be too down or sad, but instead try to stay brave and proud of myself.”

  • If you were a teacher for a day, what would you teach?

“I’d like to teach science, specifically about space.  I don’t feel like we get to learn about space enough in school.”

  • What qualities do you admire most in others?

“Honestly, I’m shy by nature so I admire those who are outgoing. I wish it was easier for me to talk to people.”

“Briar always has a positive attitude and treats everyone with kindness and respect,” pointed out Mrs. Lisa Reis, Briar’s 8th-grade Math teacher.
