Middle School Honoree – River Smith

River is always kind, supportive, and encouraging to his classmates. He seeks ways to help others without being instructed to do so. He takes initiative when there is a need. He always has a positive attitude and works hard in class. He doesn't pass up an opportunity to share a joke and make someone laugh.

Getting to know River:

  • If you had a time machine, would you go back in time or visit the future?

I would go to the future to see how humans have improved society.”

  • What’s your favorite aspect of school?

“I really enjoy learning with friends.  I like helping friends with science.”

  • What do you hope to be doing in 5 years? In 10 years?

“In 5 years, I hope to be running high school cross-country and getting good grades in high school.  In 10 years, I hope to be running in college and know what I want to pursue as a career.”

“River has a contagious positive attitude,” pointed out Mrs. Chelsie Pratt, one of River’s 6th-grade teachers. “You can always find him with a smile on his face ready to work hard to accomplish a task and help someone when there is a need.”
