Please mark your calendars to join University School faculty, family, and friends on Tuesday, February 14 as Cross Country and Track student-athlete Melina Summey signs to continue her academic and running careers during a college signing ceremony. Melina will be signing to continue her academic and athletic career at ETSU, joining both the Bucs’ Cross Country and Track teams. The ceremony will take place from 3:15-3:45pm in the school library.
Melina has been a standout runner throughout her high school career at University High. Her dedication and competitive drive has allowed her to qualify and compete in five TSSAA High School State Championships in cross country and track, finishing as high as 4th in the 3200 in the 2022 Division I, Class A State Championship. In the 2022 cross country season, she was All-Conference and awarded "Most Valuable." Melina currently holds four UH records in cross country and indoor track. In addition to athletics, she has earned the Citizenship Award for three years, currently maintains a 4.0+ GPA, and plans to major in Rehabilitative Health Science.
“Over four years, Melina has been a cornerstone of UH Cross Country as well as the middle and distance events for Track,” said UH Coach Dan Lawson. “She is a very dedicated athlete, always has positive attitude, and has the competitive drive that will help her be successful as she moves on to the collegiate level at ETSU.”
