University School is ranked #1852 in the National Rankings and earned a silver medal.
Schools are ranked based on their performance on state-required tests and how well they prepare students for college. High school students in Tennessee are tested in English, math, biology, chemistry and U.S. history. To graduate, Tennessee high schools students must earn 22 credits in various subjects, including three credits in social studies, according to the Tennessee Department of Education.
Of the Tennessee schools in the 2018 U.S. News Best High Schools rankings, five were awarded gold medals, 19 earned silver medals and 82 received bronze medals.
Along with a 100 percent graduation rate, several other academic factors went into
U.S. News & World Reports 14th-place ranking for Johnson Citys University High School
in Tennessee. The AP participation rate at University School is 42%, the school has
a College Readiness Index of 31.7, with subject proficiency scores averaging above
those in both the district and state.
