Emily Morgan Signs to Play Softball at Cumberland University

Emily Morgan of University School signs to play softball at Cumberland University.

Emily began her softball career as a young child of barely 4 years old.  She has played travel ball with Dirt Dawgs ’03 coached by AnnMarie Turner for 10 years. She is a 4 year starter for University School’s Lady Bucs Coached by Keith Jeffers, Jerry Cohee and Maura Ditto. Emily has been awarded many honors both on and off the field.  She has been presented with 4 offensive player awards, been chosen all tournament and all conference player, and was invited to play in Spain for Team USA to promote the sport among people of all nationalities.  Her off the field accomplishments include multiple mission trips, being chosen for the DAR citizenship awards, and receiving her Girl Scout Gold Award.  All of this while maintaining a 3.5 GPA.

Through the years there have been ups and downs, but she has always been willing to put in the work and the time to better herself on the field.  When a shoulder injury side-lined her, she still came to every game -both school and travel- and did anything asked of her.  This has culminated in a much dreamed about offer to play ball at Cumberland University! She officially signed with Cumberland last week with her parents, University School coaches Keith Jeffers and Maura Ditto, and travel ball coach AnnMarie Turner in attendance.  Emily is destined for great things. GO PHOENIX!
