Elementary School Honoree – Eleanor Baker-Edmonds

Eleanor is filled with the joy of learning. In fact, when he was visiting her classroom earlier this year, Principal Dr.Partin observed that she was about to burst with excitement when she made a connection between the day’s lesson and a prior activity. But it isn’t just academics that make Eleanor stand out. She is deeply concerned about the feelings of her friends and she wants everyone to get along. Eleanor is quick to pitch in and help others and she has a solution-seeking approach to conflict.

Getting to know Eleanor Baker-Edmonds:

  • What is the most unusual thing that happened in your classroom this year? “One time Natalie and I had soap on our hands when we ‘high-fived,’ and soap went everywhere! It was on my nose and in my hair!”.”
  • If you could invite a famous person to dinner at your house, who would you invite? “George Washington.  He was really smart and he helped a lot of people.”
  • How do you plan to spend your summer break? “Going to Just Jump and hanging out with my friend Emerson.”

“Eleanor cares deeply about her classmates, her school, and the Earth and that care is evident in her interactions with others,” said her Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Noell Howe. “She enters school each morning with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. Everyone in her path is impacted by the sunshine Eleanor brings to each school day. Even as an adult, I am inspired by her positivity and solution-seeking approach to problem solving. She is a joy to have in class!”
