High School Honoree – Emily Fritsch

Emily Fritsch spearheaded the creation of a homework club for middle and high school students who needed help from teachers and student-tutors with math and other homework afterschool on Mondays and Thursdays. Emily showed a lot of leadership by taking on this project and making it happen. She found teacher sponsors, recruited students and teachers to tutor, and worked out the logistics/planning of getting this new program in place.

Getting to know Emily Fritsch:

· You can only eat at one restaurant for the next year…which are you picking?

“I would pick Midcity Grill in downtown Johnson City. It has many options to choose from and I love their version of the Philly Cheesesteak!”

· What qualities do you most admire in others?

“The qualities I look for are loyalty, trustworthiness, and truthfulness.”

· If you could travel back in time to the beginning of this school year, what advice would you give yourself?

“Trust in your knowledge and find a Physics tutor right away!”

"Emily is a leader who saw a need and tried to fill it in order to help her classmates,” pointed out Dr. Ariane Day, University School’s Assistant Director. “She has a strong desire to help those around her, and put that desire into action. Way to go Emily!”
