High School Honoree –Jonathan Gardin

Jonathan is a conscientious student who is always prepared, exceeds class expectations, and tries his hardest. He is patient and considerate of those around him, and is always willing to give a helping hand.  Not only is he an outstanding student, Jonathan also took a leadership role in creating the USCC (University School Cyber Club), a student-led club that seeks to help others develop and implement technology skills.

Getting to know Jonathan Gardin:

  • If you had an unlimited budget and could add/build anything in/on the school, what would it be? "I would add a theater to the school, and also upgrade the computer lab.  I feel like the performing arts could always use more support, and it would be cool if the computer lab had the latest technology, for example a new top-of-the-line laser printer and best-performing PCs."
  • What part of school do you enjoy the most? "I would say hanging out with my friends at lunch and the USCC (University School Cyber Club).  I enjoy hanging with my friends and also teaching others about computer programming and other tech-related stuff."
  • What advice would you give to next year’s 10th graders? "I would tell them that even if the year MAY be easy, don’t slack off!"

“When I come in in the morning, Jonathan offers to hold my bags or props open the door for me to unlock,” pointed out Ms. April Sims, Jonathan’s Geometry teacher. “In class, he works hard, does his homework, and isn't afraid to ask questions in class, benefiting his classmates as well.”
