Elementary School Honoree – Tatum Schnelle
Tatum's personality is generous, kind, and courteous. She thinks of others often and is always noticing what she can do for someone else. She goes above and beyond to help classmates and the teacher when needed. She welcomed new friends to our class this year and is the first one to comfort others when they are down.
Getting to know Tatum:
- What’s the most meaningful gift you have ever received?
“Joy. Joy makes you happy. I see it as a gift because you receive it…I get it from my family.”
- Imagine you discover a beautiful island where you decide to build a new society. What is the first rule you put in place?
“The first rule I’d put into place is do not littler. Litter can hurt animals if they eat it, it can make them sick. Also, it’s disgusting to look at. It’s a beautiful island that wouldn’t be a beautiful if people starting littering.”
- If you won a million dollars, what is the first thing you would buy?
“I wouldn’t buy anything; the first thing I would do is help other people. I’d help people with shelter and food.”
“Tatum has a servant's heart,” commented Mrs. Paiton Chambers, Tatum’s 4th-grade teacher. “I often see her doing things for others without being asked, or helping others when she notices they need it. I can see her growing up to be a caregiver in some way. She is very patient, understanding, and kind to others. It is nice to see her often take initiative to help others. I know I can count on her to work well with anyone and to be a helping hand.”
