High School Honoree – Mrs. Dines’ French 1 Class
The University High French 1 class recently banned together to welcome an international student who is studying French here at ETSU. The student is from Gaza and was SO appreciative for our involvement in getting her settled here at ETSU. The class all signed up to provide basic dorm items for her as well as welcoming her in our class. Thanks to the generosity of UH’s French 1 class, the student is set for her experience here in the United States.
Getting to know the French 1 class:
- Who is your hero? (answered by Sabine Morris, French 1 student)
“My hero is Kierstin Teffeteller. She has always been my strongest ally”
- You can pick any occupation when you are an adult. What are you choosing? (answered by Luke Day, French 1 student)
“I want to go into a similar occupation as my brother, who is in IT at Eastman. I enjoy using my computers and the money is good.”
- If a new student joined your class, what advice would you give him/her? (answered by Ethan Quillen, French 1 student)
“My advice is ‘make friends’ because it’s a fresh start. Your past is behind you.”
“My French 1 class is amazing!” said Ms. Dines, UH French 1 instructor. “They are active, engaged, and eager to learn. Recently, they were so excited to connect with our international student from ETSU who is studying French. They signed up to provide everything our friend needed for her dorm and even met her at the airport. When the ETSU student visited our class, they had interesting and intelligent questions to ask her. She was so surprised when she walked in and saw the welcome signs they had made for her. This class is full of competent global citizens!”
