High School Honoree – Wally Wyatt
Wally is a new student in our instrumental music class this year who normally plays cello. He recently had an unfortunate injury that will put him off of the cello for several weeks. This has not deterred Wally from being an important contributor to our ensemble. He has jumped at the opportunity to cover a number of percussion parts that can be managed with one arm. Additionally, Wally's proficiency in reading bass clef has allowed him to cover a part on keyboard which freed up one of our regular percussionists to cover another important instrument. He is going above and beyond to make the best of the situation for himself and the group.
Getting to know Wally:
- What is your favorite & least favorite food?
“My favorite food? A burger from MidCity Grill. My least favorite is raw oysters.”
- You have an unlimited supply of one thing for the rest of your life…what are you choosing?
“Some sort of food, like ice cream. Vanilla ice cream.”
- You get to donate a million dollars to a charity of your choice. Where are you sending your money?
“A homeless shelter. They would need it to get back on their feet.”
“Wally always has a positive outlook and can-do attitude. His friendly nature has helped him quickly become an accepted member of our music community,” commented Dr. Hunter Mullins, University High Band Director.
