Why ETSU?

I chose ETSU because of the opportunities to expand my horizons without feeling overwhelmed by a large-school atmosphere. The community I experienced when I first stepped onto campus made it feel like a place I could call home.

My path at ETSU equipped me to be a skilled writer, in-depth researcher, and community-focused thinker, which translated perfectly to my career path. I work for Tennessee State Parks as an Interpretive Ranger, which not only means protecting and preserving public lands, but also researching local history, curating museum exhibits, and visiting local schools in the Appalachian Highlands to share the region's cultural and natural resources with students.

Favorite ETSU Memory

I took two short-term study abroad trips to the United Kingdom and Ireland. Those trips were some of the best memories exploring the history and culture of different countries with some of my closest friends.

Influential Professor

Dr. Jennifer Adler was the professor who influenced my time at ETSU the most. Her classes challenged me to dig deeper, think in new ways, and question everyday cultural phenomena. As my honors thesis mentor, she helped me become a better writer, researcher, and student as she pushed me to explore new ideas about Appalachian culture and folk art.
