Dr. Waage taught at Northwestern, Cal State LA, Douglass College & College Misericordia before coming to ETSU in 1978. His teaching interests include Renaissance and Shakespeare, Creative Writing, and Environmental Literature. He has published books on the 20th century U.S. writers George R. Stewart and Ross Lockridge, and edited 2 editions of the MLA guide Teaching Environmental Literature. His non-scholarly books include Sinking Creek Journal: An Environmental Book of Days (creative nonfiction), This Mortal Earth (poetry), and The Birth Spoon (fiction).
